Day 13 Wilderness Trail
Sunday, 02 July 2006

What’s the world coming to?
We all have this belief that living in a ‘cement jungle’ is the best place to stay.
Well you know what, to hell with that belief! Because right now I’m lying in the middle of nowhere in front of a crackling fire, listening to a variety of wonderful sounds the wilderness can give and to tell you the truth, I feel absolutely safe!
Inhaling all this fresh air and looking at each bright star above gives me all the feeling of warmth and love I could ever need......  Waseela

Wow! Had an amazing day today, we saw a black rhino and herd of over forty elephants going for a drink at the river, we watched them for half an hour, how cool is that??? Rebecca

Wow! Tonight is my 1st time on night watch.  It’s a bit scary but I’m enjoying the experience.  Last night we had our first camp meal and it was really nice! There was so much food I was stuffed!  My time in South Africa has been absolutely amazing and I can’t wait to share it with all my family and friends.  Rebecca

Day 14 Wilderness Trail
Monday, 03 July 2006

My day was so exciting! It was great sitting by the fire, eating, sleeping on the cliffs in sleeping bags, the stars were amazing.  I’ve seen three shooting stars so far.  Delano

This morning I woke up somewhere so beautiful it felt unreal, as if I had woken into another dream, where I was in complete peace with everything around.  We are metres away from a shallow river, interrupted by islands …..  Jack

Sun setting, birds chirping, lions roaring, grass shuffling….my whole head was spinning.  I mean Wow! – is this really happening.  Isn’t this the best part of my trip?  Night watch was to be one our best thrills, when it was my turn I saw a hyena moving less than 12feet from us and boy did that send a chill down my spine!  Riaz

I’m actually finding camping a blast! I really love star-gazing!  Waseela

Day 15 Wilderness Trail
Tuesday, 04 July 2006

Today we saw on foot, white rhino, lion, zebra, loads of different types of birds and a ground hornbill.  During night watch we had a tiny glimpse of a frightened shy leopard – the prince of the jungle.  Another top highlight was when we went fetch water, we saw a group of 10 giraffe – which was absolutely stunning! If I had my way, I would spend all three weeks here.  Riaz

Wow! My final shot on night watch.  I can’t believe our experience is nearly over.  It’s been one of the best things I’ve ever done.  Thank you to our guides, you have been fantastic about teaching us all about the wilderness around us and keeping us safe!  Rebecca

As I lay flat on my back trying to avoid the creeping cold, I stare at the brightly filled sky and admire the view.  I then hear a rattle from a nearby bush….what do I do?  Do I call for the guide to me or do I lie silently without making a noise hoping the creature leave.  I decide to shine my torch in the same direction…I experience a cold feeling that rushes through my entire body.  I begin to ponder what could’ve made such a noise…is it the fierce rhino? The mighty elephant? Or could it possibly be the king of the jungle? or is it the fragile Nyala?....I love this trail!  Waseela

Day 16 Wilderness Trail to Wrap-up Camp
Wednesday, 05 July 2006
I’ve had the best trail ever, with the best guides and the best group of friends.  I’m going to miss them all, and the experience.  I wish we went on a never ending trail.  But unfortunately we’re leaving today. Delano
