Our second clouddog pub quiz took place on Thursday April 12th. After weeks of swatting in preparation for the night, nine teams competed for the coveted title of clouddog quiz champions, led by our honourable MC Mr. Mark Bays. It was a hotly contested event, with the lead changing several times throughout the night. It culminated in a nail biting finish in which “Dom’s Granddads Indiana Jones Leatherette Jacket” clinched the title by only three points over “I Wish to Wash my Irish Wristwatch”. Over £1700 was raised on the night for clouddog, a record amount! The third clouddog pub quiz will be held in autumn, look out for details on our website (www.clouddog.org) and help stop “Dom’s Grandad….” from making it a hat trick!

Two clouddog students from the 2006 programme have been bitten by the
volunteering bug. With a desire to contribute back to their
communities, they’ve taken a year out before going to university to
volunteer for CityYear. CityYear is a charitable organisation that
aims to grow a youth service that will impact many aspects of life in
South Africa (http://www.cityyear.org/southafrica/)
. They assisted clouddog in finding student volunteers for our 2006
programme. Thanks! We are proud & delighted that our 2006
students – Crystal Pillay and Bridgette Radebe - have decided to join
CityYear in 2007. The girls will keep us updated on the volunteer
activities here on the blog. So far they are loving it!!

From the 1st to the 5th of March clouddog held our South African
interviews for 2007. We visited Silver Oaks High, Lenasia Secondary
and Diversity High. We met some amazing students and heard some very
creative project proposals. We’ll be deliberating on all the
candidates and hope to have our final selections made soon. Thank you
to each of the schools for hosting us. Good Luck to all candidates!
